Crieff Film Festival 2026 Programme

The Crieff Film Festival returns on 7–8 August 2026, bringing a weekend of inspiring films, creative workshops, and opportunities to celebrate the power of storytelling through cinema.

Following the success of our inaugural festival in 2025, which explored local film legacies, heritage, and community stories, this year’s festival turns its focus to sport. From tales of determination and resilience to stories of triumph, teamwork and ambition, our 2026 programme showcases some of cinema’s most memorable sporting stories.

This year, screenings will take place across two venues, Crieff Hydro Cinema and Strathearn Community Campus, allowing audiences to enjoy a wider selection of films throughout the festival weekend.

Some screenings take place simultaneously at different venues. We encourage visitors to review the programme in advance and choose the screenings that best suit their interests.

Make a Film in a Day Workshop
9:45am – 4:00pm

A hands-on filmmaking workshop led by acclaimed filmmaker David Barras. Young participants will have the opportunity to plan, film and edit their own short film in just one day while learning from industry professionals.

Bend It Like Beckham

A beloved British classic celebrating football, family and following your dreams.

Opening Night Screening: Chariots of Fire (Invitation Only)

Our opening festival screening features the Oscar-winning classic Chariots of Fire, a powerful story of ambition, faith and sporting excellence.

Stroke of Genius
2:00pm

The remarkable true story of one of tennis’s greatest rivalries.

Closing Night Screening: Jerry Maguire
7:00pm

We conclude the festival with the much-loved sports drama Jerry Maguire, combining heart, humour and unforgettable performances.

Invictus
7:00pm

A moving and inspiring story of leadership, unity and the power of sport to bring people together.

Crieff Hydro Cinema
A unique cinema setting within one of Perthshire’s most iconic destinations, hosting our opening and closing screenings alongside a selection of classic sports films.

Strathearn Community Campus
Home to our Make a Film in a Day workshop and additional evening screenings, providing opportunities for audiences and aspiring filmmakers to engage with cinema in a creative and accessible setting.
