The Millefleur Project
We put a call out to our community of knitters in Muthill, Comrie, Auchterarder and Crieff – and the response was incredible! Inspired by the beautiful flower walkways at Yarndale Wool Festival in Yorkshire, we asked for handmade flowers to create a vibrant focal point in the Star Garden.
The result? A 12-foot panel of hundreds of unique hand-knitted and crocheted blooms
Each flower is different in design, colour, and texture – from first-ever creations to pieces by accomplished knitters. Together, they form a joyful tapestry of colour and craft. We even received some vibrant vegetables and a scarecrow.
We were amazed to receive flowers not only from across Perthshire, but also from Edinburgh and even as far as Devon! The variety of yarns and styles is amazing, and the panel is a true celebration of community talent and creativity.
This outdoor artwork complements the sensory plants in the garden, adding another dimension of colour, texture, and touch for all to enjoy.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed – this project wouldn’t have been possible without you, and a special thanks to Susan Thomson for overseeing this amazing project! You and your team have created something truly amazing, it’s a very special addition to the Star Garden
