Crieff Film Festival 2025: Celebrating Local Heroes and Community Spirit
From 8–10 August 2025, Crieff hosted the inaugural Crieff Film Festival, bringing together film enthusiasts, families, and local creatives for a weekend of screenings, workshops, and cultural celebration. Delivered by Creative Crieff as part of the town’s regeneration strategy, this year’s festival focused on the theme “Local Heroes”, highlighting Crieff’s own talented actors, including Denis Lawson and Ewan McGregor.
The festival programme included classic and independent film screenings, family-friendly films, and a hands-on “Make a Film in a Day” workshop, where 13 young participants wrote, filmed, and produced their own short films. Audiences also enjoyed screenings of local films, celebrating the town’s heritage and providing a unique opportunity to see familiar faces on screen.
With an estimated 280+ attendees, including visitors from surrounding towns and regions, the festival strengthened community connections, fostered creative engagement, and enhanced Crieff’s profile as a cultural hub. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the welcoming atmosphere, inspiring workshops, and the opportunity to celebrate local talent.
The Crieff Film Festival 2025 demonstrated the power of cultural events to bring communities together, support local artists, and attract visitors, laying a strong foundation for future growth.
